My Experience with the NEW RedFit™ Recovvry™ Infrared Sauna Blanket

My Experience with the NEW RedFit™ Recovvry™ Infrared Sauna Blanket

I was recently given the opportunity to try out Wellness USA’s new sauna blanket for a few days and I had a great experience with it. The blanket is called the RedFit™ Recovvry™ Infrared Sauna Blanket and it’s a prominent product in the wellness technology industry.

What is the RedFit™ Recovvry Infrared Blanket?

The RedFit™ Recovvry™ Infrared Sauna Blanket is described as the “ultimate in wellness” that offers many benefits, including “cleansing, relaxation, and recovery”. It features 35 precious gemstones and 6 intense redlight LEDs. It also employs all three kinds of infrared light: near, mid, and far. Here is a more complete list of benefits that the blanket provides:

  • Sleep management
  • Cleansing
  • Relaxation
  • Weight management
  • Enhanced wellness
  • Improved fitness recovery
  • Stress reduction

All of these details about the blanket intrigued me and I was curious to see what it would do for me.

My Experience Using the Blanket & Tips for Other Users

This was my first time trying a sauna blanket; however, I’ve had some experience with saunas and think they’re incredible. Heat has been used for thousands of years in various wellness practices, and saunas have been around for at least a thousand years (the first written description of a sauna was in 1112 from Finland). Using heat for wellness has taken many different forms – think also of the famous Greek and Roman baths – and one could consider a  sauna blanket to be a convenient, modernized version of all these ancient forms of heat therapy.

Before I started my sauna blanket session, I put on the Bunny Suit (a thin, cloth suit) that Wellness USA recommends to be worn during the sauna blanket session; the RedFit™ Cocoon™ Cozy Wrap, which is a thicker material that you wrap yourself in, is another option, but I went for the Bunny Suit for my first time. It was pretty comfy and I was enjoying showing it off to my parents, until my younger brother told me I looked like Walter White in his hazmat suit. I’m still unsure if that was a compliment or not, but nonetheless, I liked the Bunny Suit.

I had read through the owner’s manual and was feeling confident in knowing how to set up and use the blanket, but it was even easier than I had been expecting. You just plug the cord into the blanket and the wall, open it up, and let it warm up for a few minutes. Then, lie down, pull the top of the blanket over your body, and zip it up! Before I started, I had asked my dad to be available for help because I wasn’t sure how easy it’d be to zip it once I was in it, but I was able to do it myself, no problem. I had set the controller to my desired time and temperature, and I was ready to start sweating.

Knowing I would probably get bored just lying in the sauna blanket on the floor, I had brought a book with me. The blanket has holes in the front to allow the person inside to retain use of their arms, which was perfect for me to be able to hold and flip the pages of my book. I also like that these holes are zippered, to give the choice of closing them and letting all body parts remain inside the blanket. I used the blanket both ways – arm holes open and closed – and both were great. With the holes open, I was able to read my book or use my phone. With the holes closed, I was able to fully immerse myself in the blanket and it was nice to let my arms and hands warm up too.

The first time I used the blanket went pretty smoothly, but there were a few mistakes I made that I had to change for the next time I used it. First of all, I forgot my water bottle! I had read in the manual that it’s a good idea to bring along some water, so you can stay hydrated once you start sweating, but I had left mine sitting on the kitchen table. It wasn’t until I was about fifteen minutes in and started to get a little thirsty that I realized my Nalgene wasn’t sitting next to me. I was pretty warm inside the blanket and I didn’t want to get out and disrupt my session, but luckily, my dad was kind enough to bring my water to me and I was able to stay hydrated while I started to get sweaty.

My second mistake was lying on the floor – it wasn’t very comfortable. The next couple of times I used the blanket, I chose my bed instead of the floor, and it was a much better experience. I definitely recommend choosing a comfortable surface for the best relaxation.

One other thing that I did differently for my next sauna blanket session was to use the RedFit™ Cocoon™ Cozy Wrap. I had enjoyed using the Bunny Suit, but I was curious about the Cozy Wrap and I wanted to try it out and see the difference between the two options. The RedFit™ Cocoon™ Cozy Wrap is a bit similar to a sleeping bag, but it’s made out of a soft waffle fabric and has holes in the front that match the sauna blanket’s arm holes so you can still take advantage of that feature. The RedFit™ Cocoon™ Cozy Wrap is thicker than the Bunny Suit and because of this, I noticed I got warmer during my session and was noticeably more sweaty when I got out of the blanket. Personally, I think I liked the RedFit™ Cocoon™ Cozy Wrap a bit more than the Bunny Suit because of how comfortable it was.

By the time the controller beeped to let me know my session was over, I had worked up a good sweat. I opened the blanket and was hit with some very refreshing cool air. Following the instructions in the manual, I let the blanket sit open to cool off and then wiped it down to clean it – super easy!

Overall, I enjoyed the time I spent actually inside the blanket. The material felt nice and I liked both the weighted and heated sensations of the blanket. I enjoyed being able to take an hour out of my day to relax and read my book or meditate, while also getting the benefits of the infrared light. I am a big fan of multitasking, especially when I can combine multiple good habits together and this was the perfect opportunity to do that.

How I Felt After Using the Sauna Blanket

Immediately after using the blanket, I felt very warm (duh) and sweaty, but good. I love the feeling of getting a good, cleansing sweat. I felt a sense of accomplishment, similar to when I finish a workout, even though all I’d had to do was lie down and read my book. As far as other benefits I saw, the two I noticed the most were improved sleep and decreased muscle soreness.

Being a night owl, I often have trouble falling asleep at night, especially when I have to put myself to bed at a reasonable hour so I can wake up early for work the next day. I also struggle to get up in the mornings, always fighting the urge to sleep for just a few more hours. I discovered that on the days I used the sauna blanket, I was able to fall asleep easier and faster, which allowed me to get a longer and better night of sleep. I woke up feeling less tired and grumpy than usual and I think getting a little extra sleep did make a positive difference in my mood during the day.

The other benefit I noticed from using the sauna blanket was that my muscles felt less sore than they usually do after a workout. Walking up the stairs the day after lifting was a little easier on my leg muscles. I’m not a person who goes super hard at the gym, but I did notice a difference and I appreciated it.

I don’t think I used the blanket consistently long enough to really see all of the benefits, but I did enjoy the relaxation, improved sleep, and decreased soreness.

Final Thoughts

I definitely have a lot of positive things to say about the RedFit™ Recovvry™ Infrared Sauna Blanket. I think it’s a great product and I would be interested to see what other benefits it could give me if I used it for a longer period of time. It was a pleasant experience and I’d recommend it to anyone interested in enhancing their wellness journey.
